A FIT GAL'S GUIDE TO VITAL PROTEINS
WHAT ARE VITAL PROTEINS?
Vital Proteins are collagen filled products that promote a healthy lifestyle in a very clean and nutritious way. Collagen is the most abundant protein in our bodies and is the one component of our bodies that holds us together! It is a vital building block for our skin, hair, nails, bones, and joints, HOWEVER, this nutrient tends to often be stripped from our diets by modern food-processing. Studies have shown that our bodies cannot produce enough collagen on their own so that is where Vital Proteins comes in! Their products are natural, minimally processed, and clean. Let's take a look at all the changes I noticed after my first 30 days of using the Vital Protein Collagen Peptides.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF VITAL PROTEINS?
Vital Proteins has a tremendous amount of benefits for our bodies! Their products work to enhance your skin, hair, and nails. Believe me when I say after a 30 day trial of the Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides my nails were the longest they have ever been and the strongest they have ever been. A few years ago I was a gel nail fanatic and eventually my nails were completely destroyed. I used to be able to peel my nails off they were so brittle and after turning to collagen my nails changed drastically and were suddenly healthy and repaired. I even got so obsessed with how my nails looked I started spending more time on them and actually painting them which was always something I dreaded so much and would barely ever do.
Not only has Vital Proteins helped my nails but it has also helped my hair! Moving to California meant more sun exposure to my hair leading to brittle ends AND more sweaty workouts leading to washing my hair everyday, which ultimately led to some extremely damaged hair. Collagen helped my hair grow and shine. I couldn't believe how much healthier it had become from incorporating this supplement into my everyday diet. In terms of the skin benefits, I have always been fortunate in the facial skin department but most definitely noticed changes in my skins moisture and tone. I could feel my skin glowing! Vital Proteins doesn't promise to reverse aging but has gotten a lot of positive feedback on the skin benefits their products provide including skin elasticity which is a big one when us women are starting to age!
Finally, one of the most important benefits for me was what Vital Proteins did for the inside of my body. Not only does Vital Proteins promote healthy digestion and restore gut health but they also promote bone health as well. I noticed shortly after using the collagen peptides that my knees and ankles were no longer cracking after certain moves and runs at the gym. The collagen helps rebuild and recover our muscles. Growing up I was never a milk drinker and by the time I was a teenager it was completely eliminated from my diet. I did not like it at all! My mom would always say you NEED to drink milk, it is healthy for your bones. My parents were always worried I would break bones playing sports in high school because I never drank milk...but I am here to say that is a myth because this girl has never broken a bone in her life. Knock on wood! I believe Vital Proteins are a much healthier, cleaner alternative to protecting our bones and joints than turning to consuming milk for bone protection.

INGREDIENTS
- 3 medium sized heirloom tomatoes, chopped
- 3 ears of white corn
- 4 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tbsp. finely chopped fresh oregano
- 2 tbsp. fresh thyme leaves
- 2 carrots, peeled and chopped
- 1 large yellow onion, chopped
- 4 yellow boatneck squash, chopped into thin circles
- 2 zucchini squash, chopped into thin circles
- 4-5 large cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1 large Anaheim pepper, chopped (if you donβt want any spice this is optional or you can use a bell pepper
- 1 bunch of lacinato (dinosaur) kale, stems and veins removed
- 4 cups low sodium chicken stock
- Sea salt and pepper to taste
- 4 servings (8 scoops) Vital Proteins collagen peptides
RECIPE
Preheat your oven to 450F. Line a baking tin with foil and place your corn ears in it
and create a mixture with 2 tbsp. of the olive oil, some sea salt and pepper and the
oregano and coat the corn ears with it. Roast them in the oven for 10-15 minutes
depending on how roasted you want the ears to be. Let them cool and then scrape the kernels in a bowl for reserve.
Next, heat a large soup pot or dutch oven over medium heat and pour the other 2
tbsp. of olive oil in that. Add the chopped carrots and onion and season them with
some sea salt and pepper. Cook them about 2 minutes, and then add the chopped
zucchini and yellow squash, garlic, thyme and the Anaheim pepper. Cook the
vegetables for around 10 minutes. If you feel you need to add a little more olive oil, you can do so here, another tablespoon would be okay.
Next, stir in the corn, chopped tomatoes and the chicken broth stock. Bring the soup
to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer. At this point, add the collagen
peptides, stir well and serve. This soup is also great served cold, and with all things using fresh ingredients, it tastes even better the next day!
